/About us

Serving the best interests of clients and communities

Our expertise allows us to deliver structural, civil and flood planning projects of all sizes across Australia and New Zealand.

Where we came from

Established in Sydney in 1965 by engineers Stephen Mateffy, Les Perl and John Nagy (MPN), the founding partners met Frank Lowy (founder of Westfield) through the local Hungarian community.

Lowy had established Westfield in 1960 and the MPN team were eager to practice in the retail space. It wasn’t long before they became the preferred engineering firm for all Westfield work. MPN pioneered the design of pre-stressed concrete, a material that was ideal for the Westfield model.

Growth in the Queensland market led to the establishment of a Queensland office in 1982, where MPN completed a series of landmark projects – including the Brisbane Administration Centre, Brisbane Parliamentary Annex and Westfield Shopping Centres across the greater Brisbane area.
